What does the future hold for rural Britain?

Find out at Future Countryside 2026 – a one-of-a-kind event bringing together farmers, land managers, policymakers, landowners and rural champions to shape the countryside of tomorrow.

Now in its fourth year, Future Countryside has become the leading forum for shaping the future of rural Britain, bringing together the people, ideas and influence driving change at a critical moment for the countryside.
This year’s event promises an inspiring and thought-provoking programme, with every part of the day designed to spark bold ideas and help shape a modern vision for the countryside.

At the heart of Future Countryside 2026 is the central question:

“How can we win support for a growing and recovering countryside?”

This will spotlight opportunities and innovations, showcasing the countryside as:

  • A dynamic, inclusive space at the heart of national life

  • A driver of economic growth and fair, sustainable development

  • A source of community strength, cultural richness, and environmental stewardship

  • A major contributor to education, health and wellbeing

Future Countryside 2026 will feature an outstanding line-up of speakers, including Sir Simon Jenkins, Craig Bennett (Wildlife Trusts), Chris Woodley-Stewart (North Pennines National Landscape), Rupert Soames and René Olivieri (National Trust).

We are also pleased to welcome Kirstie Allsopp, who will lead a discussion on tackling Britain’s growing waste crisis and the role the countryside can play in building a culture of repair, reuse and responsibility.

They will be joined by leading political voices including Baroness Batters, Lord Smith, Baroness Rock and Daniel Zeichner MP, creating a broad and balanced conversation about the countryside’s future.

Whether you're a farmer, forester, land manager or work in rural business, this event is for you. Future Countryside is about practical solutions, honest discussion and ensuring rural voices are at the heart of national decision-making.
