Nick Herbert (Lord Herbert of South Downs) has been Chairman of the Countryside Alliance since 2019.  He helped to found the Countryside Movement and was Conservative MP for Arundel & South Downs for nearly 15 years, during which he served as Shadow Secretary of State for the Environment. 

Nick also chairs the College of Policing, The Project for Modern Democracy, the Global TB Caucus and the Global Equality Caucus, and he is the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy on LGBT+ Rights. 

He was appointed to the Privy Council in 2010, awarded a CBE in 2016 and joined the House of Lords in 2020.
