The Rt Hon. The Lord Soames of Fletching was a Conservative Member of Parliament from 1983 to 2019. During his long and distinguished career in Parliament he held a number of senior roles, including serving as a Minister for Defence and as a Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

He was appointed a Life Peer in October 2022. His interests include reading, racing and country pursuits. He has travelled widely.
